The new outdoor season is almost upon us which in order to be ready for the start some renovation works had to be completed. It has been identified that our edging supports had moved quite a bit and started to rot. This had survived for nearly 40 years however, it was time to renovate.

Our dedicated team of volunteers took on the task over a couple Saturdays to replace the worn timber edging on the near and far side ditches. What does this mean? After some recent green inspections it was advised that our ditch width was below the minimum allowance due to subsidence to a near 160mm. 200mm is the minimum allowance but we are now at a steady 240mm so might be worth checking your home green dimensions. This is a temporary solution as we are still looking to renovate all sides which will also include increasing the height of the bank. This will ensure that the ditches will out live most of us also providing minimal maintenance. We at Stanton Bowls Club take pride in our green with providing our members and guests the best possible bowling experience.
We would like to thank our team of volunteers for all the works carried out, let's not forget the weather as for once it was on our side.
